Labor Day Weekend Labeling Fun
Monday, September 5, 2011 at 8:11PM Following a much-needed vacation to the islands, Alma Sol brought back a renewed Aloha spirit, just in time to hand-label more than 1,800 bottles that will soon be available to patient and loyal family and friends, who have been with us from the beginning of this adventure, as well as the unsuspecting public. Here's how glamorous it is, folks...
After waiting all day for UPS to deliver the labels for our first releases, we were able to start our short trek to Paso after 7 pm Thursday, getting in late and setting our alarms early to get a jump on the next day. We arrived at the rental store on opening, bleary-eyed but exceedingly optimistic about how quickly we could knock off a mere 150 cases between the two of us. "Here's how it works," said the store's helpful staff. "Take the spool, place it here, go between these two parts, then over, under, make sure a quarter inch is exposed here, go back under, over, around, and through...oh, and you need to make sure the 'laser eye' sees your labels." Gulp. "Could you run through that once more?" we asked. He did, we nodded as if to confirm our understanding, and off we went with the mysterious labeling machine.
Ten hours later, we had successfully "dialed it in" and labeled all of our 2010 Sauvignon Blanc and a smidgen of 2009 Encantada Cabernet Sauvignon. Suffice it to say, we needed one more day to finish things up, but we did. And let no one question whether we touched each and every bottle. So please stay tuned for our new website and news about our official launch, all of which will be up and running in time for harvest and, more importantly, holiday meals and gift-giving! Yes, this is when we become shameless promoters.
